The Flagellants

Before we wrap up our examination of the Black Death, we simply have to talk about the Flagellants. This group of mostly German zealots takes the cake for strangest reaction to the plague. Much maligned in popular culture thanks to Monty Python, the Flagellants would be hilarious were it not for the rampant antisemitism that underpinned their entire movement.
